Fertilizer & Potash Industry News: Australian Potash, PhosAgro and Trigg Mining

AUSTRALIAN POTASH Ltd has provided an update on activities and operations at the Lake Wells Gold project. Drilling by joint venture partner St Barbara Ltd has continued to expand the footprint and tenor of gold mineralisation. Moreover, a mineralised corridor exceeding 9 km in length has been delineated while a 19 hole, 3400 m reverse circulation (RC) drill programme is underway with assays expected from March 2021. A diamond core drill programme is underway with two holes of a three-hole programme completed and assays expected from March 2021. Finally, the highest grade air-core (AC) assay results from a regional scale drilling programme have been returned. “These high-grade AC results confirm our belief that the Lake Wells Gold project has the potential to host a significant gold deposit,“ Managing Director and CEO of Australian Potash, Matt Shackleton, commented. „After 3 years of methodical analysis, the joint venture is now focusing on targets where we can test the true potential of the area. Like our neighbours to the south, diligent and persistent exploration is paying off.
PHOS-AGRO, a vertically integrated Russian company and one of the world’s leading phosphate-based fertilizer producers, will increase the use of renewable energy for production of agrochemical products from 2021 after the Apatit mining and beneficiation plant (the Kirov branch of JSC Apatit) signed a contract for the supply of hydroelectric power with TGC-1. The 100 MW contract means that more than 60% of the beneficiation plant’s output will be produced using ‘green’ electricity. Last month, PhosAgro’s Board of Directors approved a climate strategy. The core element of this strategy is continued work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including indirect emissions that are generated during the production of electricity consumed by the company’s production facilities. As part of this climate strategy, a low-carbon transition plan has been adopted, which includes technical, technological and organisational measures that are being developed and implemented. In 2020, PhosAgro’s activities in the field of climate responsibility were rated highly by the world’s largest ESG rating institutions.
TRIGG MINING Ltd, a Perth-headquartered Western Australian exploration company, has published an update on its inaugural air-core drilling programme at the high-grade Lake Throssell sulphate of potash (SOP) project, located 170 km east of Laverton in Western Australia. The air-core programme, which commenced in November 2020, was designed to test the basal aquifer within the interpreted 46 km palaeovalley target derived from the ground gravity surveys. The drill programme is being carried out by Ausdrill with a track-mounted air-core rig with 16 holes completed for 1806 m to a maximum depth of 130 m. “We are very encouraged by these early results from the maiden air-core drilling programme at Lake Throssell, which build on the high-grade results encountered in the surficial aquifer and continue to show Lake Throssell has the potential to be a significant new sulfate of potash project,“ Trigg Mining’s Managing Director, Keren Paterson, commented. „As soon as weather conditions permit, we anticipate recommencing the drilling programme to continue to delineate this exciting high-grade SOP discovery.
