Canada Sells India and Bangladesh Potash

Canadian company Canpotex, the world’s premier potash exporter, has inked lately agreements with India and Bangladesh to supply these two countries with potash fertilizer which helps plants develop strong roots, fight diseases and insects.
Under the deal sealed with the government and private partners in India, Canpotex agreed to supply annually about 1 million tonnes of potash at a price of US $ 322.00 per tonne on a CFR basis.
According to some experts, this contract will enable Canpotex, a joint venture among Saskatchewan’s Potash Producers – Agrium, Mosaic and PotashCorp, enhance its presence in the Indian market and will help the country to improve the crop yields thanks to the use of balanced fertilization and best management practices.
The Canadian company has also signed lately a US $40 million contract with Bangladesh to provide potash to this Asian country which is looking forward to boosting its agricultural production in a bid to achieve its food security goals.
