Morocco’s OCP Implements Measures to Prevent Spread of Covid-19

At the first signs of the epidemic on 2 March, Morocco’s OCP Group implemented a comprehensive system of measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 in order to anticipate and mitigate its health and socio-economic impacts. The different OCP sites in Morocco and abroad all apply preventive sanitary and hygienic measures, in accordance with guidelines issued by government authorities to stop the spread of coronavirus, but also in order to protect the health of its collaborators and their families. Also, given the international scope of its activities, OCP Group’s measures included the cancellation of most trips abroad and, at the internal organizational level, remote meetings replaced face-to-face meetings through the Group’s digital collaborative platforms and tools.
Thus, OCP Group has also set up a system of work flexibility in all its industrial sites and at the headquarters in Casablanca, for employees whose activities do not require a physical presence. The objective of the work-from-home system is to reduce direct human contact while ensuring adequate continuity of services. Thanks to the digitalization process launched by the Group a few years ago, all employees, in Morocco and abroad, are equipped with digital teleworking tools and with the necessary support to fulfill their missions. Other actions have also been carried out, such as the multiplication of hydro-alcoholic gel dispensers, disinfection campaigns on all sites and the staff’s personal means of transports, but also the supply of specific protective masks, infrared thermometers, gloves, other IPE, bibs, thermal cameras, antiseptic gels, bio-cleaners, etc. The Group has ten local medico-social centers and two multidisciplinary hospitals that are available to health authorities to support the national action to combat the pandemic. The Group’s medical teams are available to collaborators and can be reached any time at the work health units of each site.
In order to maintain its activities in accordance with the sanitary measures to combat the spread of Covid-19, the OCP Group is also disseminating the digitalization of its maritime and port operations. As a result, the Phosboucrâa site has recently implemented a technological innovation at the wharf of Laâyoune by docking and loading a ship without any human contact between the embarkation team of Phosboucrâa and the crew. This unprecedented operation carried out in Laâyoune is part of the industrial digitalization project that the Group began almost a year ago, notably at the OCP port of Jarf Lasfar. The aim is to strengthen HSE excellence with the application of dematerialization and digitalization procedures by limiting or eliminating human contact with the ship. A specialized local company assisted our employees during the supervision of the operation using drones. OCP engineers viewed in real time the images filmed by the drone from the operating room, thus ensuring rapid loading and saving teams from the risks of COVID-19 contamination.
